Delete Your Account

Two ways to delete your account

As of this page's publication, SomaSkul supports account deletion in two ways:

  • In the app. Open SomaSkul, go to Profile, and tap Delete My Account near the bottom of the screen. You'll be asked to confirm once before anything is deleted.
  • By contacting us directly, if you can't access the app — for example, if you no longer have the phone the account was set up with. See "How to request deletion without the app" below.

Who can request deletion

The person who holds the SomaSkul account can request deletion at any time from within the app — no separate approval is needed, since SomaSkul's login is tied directly to your phone number. If you're a parent or guardian requesting deletion of an account you did not personally set up, see the Parent/Guardian Notice for how to reach us; we will need to verify the request is legitimate before acting on it.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account:

  • Your homework questions and the AI-generated answers to them
  • Your study progress, subject/topic performance tracking
  • Your flashcard decks and cards
  • Your account's identifying details (name and phone number are replaced with a non-identifying placeholder, so the account can no longer be used to log in)

This happens immediately when you confirm the deletion in the app.

What may need to be retained

A small number of records are kept even after deletion, for reasons explained fully in SomaSkul's Refund & Cancellation Policy and internal Data Deletion Policy:

  • Payment/transaction records (M-Pesa receipt code, amount, plan) — likely required for accounting and fraud-dispute purposes independent of a deletion request. These are not linked back to your deleted profile information.
  • Referral and reward history — kept in a form that supports fraud prevention for SomaSkul's referral program, without your name or phone number attached to it after deletion.

What happens to your subscription

Deleting your account does not issue an automatic refund for time remaining on a paid plan. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy if you believe a refund applies to your situation.

What happens to information stored only on your phone

Some information — including your full conversation history with SomaSkul's AI tutor, ZANA — is stored only on your device and was never sent to SomaSkul's servers in the first place. Deleting your account through the app does not reach into your phone's local storage. To remove this local copy, uninstall the SomaSkul app, or clear its storage through your phone's settings.

How deletion requests are verified

Deletion requested from inside the app is verified the same way every action in SomaSkul is authenticated: you must be signed in. If you contact us to request deletion without using the app, we will ask you to confirm details about the account (such as the phone number on file) before proceeding, to prevent someone else from deleting your account on your behalf.

[BUSINESS DECISION REQUIRED — placeholder]: a real, monitored contact channel for this purpose has not yet been configured. Once available, it will be published here — a monitored email address is sufficient for this purpose; it does not need to be a self-service form. See SomaSkul's internal docs/legal/DATA_SUBJECT_REQUESTS.md and docs/legal/BUSINESS_DECISIONS_REQUIRED.md item 2 for the process this will follow once the contact address is set.
